#TheLinkedInGuru Tip of the Week

Here is a collection of the current and past LinkedIn Tip of the Week that I have published. Please take a look at them and pass them along to your network. Namaste 🙏 🖖

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Make Your Profile Picture Visible to the Public

It has been many months since I brought this up, but I STILL see so many people’s profiles where I can only see the “gray ghost” picture so I thought I would post it again.

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Make a Promise to Your Network and KEEP Your Promise

Why would it be necessary to make promises about networking? First of all, because I want people to get to know me, like me and trust me when it comes to networking. I want them to know that I am seeking to help not only the people IN my network, but those people who are NOT in my network YET.

LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Find a Local LinkedIn Guru (Teacher) for Help With Utilizing LinkedIn

Sometimes when I have introduced myself as the LinkedIn GURU (Teacher) I have jokingly said that GURU stands for "General Understanding, Relatively Useless". Well, I believe GURU (Teacher) stands for "Gets to Uncover the Real Usefulness" instead!

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: “C”elebrate the New Year by Providing Value

I am a very lucky person. I have gotten to spend the last 12 years being the LinkedIn Guru (Teacher), teaching many free seminars, providing free LinkedIn tips and getting to network with many other teachers around the world. Along the way, I have hopefully provided some value to my students and my network. At least that was my major goal.

#TheLinkedInGuru My Good News Friday post today is about the gratitude that I have for being a Teacher.

I have been teaching LinkedIn for the last 12 years. And, I couldn't do it without many folks like Shelly Elsliger, PPCC the #LinkedInWonderWoman.

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Connect With or Follow the #LinkedInWonderWoman

Shelly Elsliger IS the LinkedIn Wonder Woman! I have known Shelly for almost three years now and never met her "in person", but she is living proof that your brand can shine through on LinkedIn.

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #FridayShout #PirateBroadcast

This week's #FridayShout is for Russ Johns, the host of the regular LinkedIn Live video series #PirateBroadcast Russ is a model of consistency: I can ...

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Favorite Tip.

I was recently asked by a good friend Petra Fisher to share my favorite tip on LinkedIn. I couldn't really decide on which one was my favorite so I decided to post TWO tips about one topic - Public Profile.

#TheLinkedInGuru TWO tips about one topic - Public Profile

Okay Petra, I couldn't really decide on which one was my favorite so I decided to post TWO tips about one topic - Public Profile. This seems to be a very ignored area and there are a couple of things I thought I would highlight.

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: It’s Okay to be “Human” on LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a wonderful Social Media platform for professionals. And one of the things that I have found over the years is that they don’t call it “Social” Media for nothing!

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Tis the Season to G.I.V.E. to Your Network

What that G.I.V.E. acronym really means is to be GENEROUS, be INTERESTING, be VALUABLE and be EXCEPTIONAL. By doing these things your network will come to know you, like you and trust you.

#TheLinkedInGuru As I said before this definitely qualifies as my Good News Friday post this week!!

#TheLinkedInGuru As I said before this definitely qualifies as my Good News Friday post this week!! Thanks again for having me, Russ! You do great work out here on LinkedIn and I am glad we were able to take the time to highlight some other folks that do the same!! Thanks for being a true #LinkedInRockstar If you want to really get involved, build a network and make a difference on #LinkedIn, then be a R-O-C-K-S-T-A-R like this folks: “R”eal desire to help “O”utstanding knowledge “C”aring attitude “K”ind and giving “S”uper connections “T”rust your network “A”ctively engage “R”elationship builder" Namaste 🙏 🖖

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Tis the Season for Thanks

Actually, I know I am a few days early for Thanksgiving here in the US, but IMHO every day out here is a day for saying thanks. It is especially appropriate for this time of year. One of the greatest things about networking for me is that I get to say THANK YOU so often.

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru Good News Friday! I just found out that the ability to search for content in a Group is BACK!!

So now is an even better time to join a Group of like-minded people. Please join my Group at the link below if you are interested in learning or sharing LinkedIn Tips for All Levels of Experience.

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Don’t Collect, Connect

I’ve heard the idea of connecting with folks expressed very well by some LinkedIn experts I admire. One friend from Australia says it like this: “Build a network, not a database”. Thank you @Darrel Griffin.

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #ThelinkedInGuru Good News Friday Part 2

I just heard that #FollowFriday is a thing out here... To which I reacted, that's nice, but shouldn't EVERY day be a day you recommend your friends and tell folks the value they bring?

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru Good News Friday

A very big shout out and THANK YOU to Malka Bendor and the great folks at Jewish Family Services for hosting my 55th free seminar of the year this morning! It was fun to teach people how to get found by using focused keywords and hashtags.

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Calling All Veterans!

“All gave some, some gave all” I want to thank all the veterans out here on LinkedIn for your service. For some time now, LinkedIn has been offering eligible service members, veterans and military spouses one year of free access to LinkedIn Premium and LinkedIn Learning.

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru Good News Friday post

Every day should be about saying thank you, but today's Good News Friday post is especially sweet because I had the honor of doing three totally different seminars in the last seven days. So without further adieu, let the thank yous begin.

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: How Do You Learn Best?

Is your best way to learn visually (video)? Do you prefer a live (butts in seats) or virtual (webinar) session? Or do you learn a great deal better via audio (podcast)? As a long-time LinkedIn Guru (Teacher) I KNOW that different folks learn in different ways so I try to provide tips in a mix of many different ways to learn.

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru Bonus LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Searching Your Public Profile for Keywords

Did you know that there is an easy way to search your LinkedIn Public Profile for any keyword(s) and finding out how many times it is used on your profile? Keywords on your profile are VERY important and knowing how many times you have used a keyword on your profile is just AS important.

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Hello Everyone, I'm Back!!!

Not that anyone probably even noticed, but I was gone on holiday for about a week... I DID change my professional headline to say I would be gone. Not sure anyone paid attention. Did you see the change? The good news is that it didn't seem to affect much. For example, I went up six spots in ranking for the #LinkedInROCKSTARS list from number 14 to number 8!! https://lnkd.in/ezXcY3T

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru My Good News Friday post this week is short AND sweet!

First of all, in the next four days I will be doing my 49th and 50th free LinkedIn seminars of the year. That brings my yearly total to 50 so I am right on track to hit my goal of 60 for the year. As a matter of fact I already have nearly 30 free seminars scheduled for 2020. Great fun!

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: “Those Who Can Do - Do… Those Who CAN DO MORE - Teach”

That’s perhaps a slightly different way than you have heard that quote, but for those of you who know me, you know that I sometimes introduce myself as “Hello, I’m a Teacher… What’s your superpower?” I am always looking for a new venue to teach LinkedIn. And, this week is a big one for me!

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru Look at that smile!! Behind that smile is a supreme networking resource

a consummate professional, and a stellar human being all rolled into a wonderful, positive and caring package. A huge THANK YOU Malka Bendor for hosting another LinkedIn Workshop at Jewish Family Services today. My Good News Friday came a little early this week because working with you MADE my week. Thank you for all you do! Namaste 🙏 🖖 #socialmedia #linkedin #networking #branding #training #tips #careerdevelopment #autoban

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: “Attract the Best, Repel the Rest”

To give proper credit for this week’s post, I have to give a shout out to ANGUS GRADY (a great friend of mine from the UK) who said this to me first. If you think about the words, you might think that it is a very “closed” philosophy. It isn’t.

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: “Your Brand is What People Say About You When You are Not in the Room”

That quote from Jeff Bezos really means a lot. You have to build your own brand out here on LinkedIn. And just to be clear: Your brand is more than a logo… Your brand is more than a picture… Your brand is more than a company name… Your brand is more than a hashtag or web site…

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru Here is my Good News Friday post this week.

First of all, I want to give a very big THANK YOU and shout out to Vicki O'Neill for getting together today at lunch for our second FTF meeting. It was great to share a "C"up of "C"offee with you again, Vicki and learn more about how we can be of help to one another. Second, another big THANK YOU to Ben Riggs who was supposed to join Vicki and I today, couldn't quite make it, but made sure that he forwarded a "C"are Package Goodie Bag!!

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru This was an easy choice for my Good News Friday post this week.

Most folks have heard of Kudos out here on LinkedIn and some know how to use them. Well, I have one better. I am calling it the Guru Seal of Approval! And, I am very pleased to announce the first two recipients are from locations 3,800 miles apart.

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Don’t Ignore Your Notifications

Notifications on LinkedIn are one of the best ways to actually ENGAGE with your network and build your brand. IMHO, if you ignore your notifications, you ignore your network. Please do the following several times a day:

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #ThelinkedinGuru A very big shout out and THANK YOU to Malka Bendor and the great folks at Jewish Family Services for hosting a Stump the Guru session this morning

We also got to play 20 Questions thanks to the great content of a wonderful friend of mine Shelly Elsliger, PPCC. The #LinkedInWonderWoman and her excellent questions are included in the document below and I have also included links to Shelly's posts

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Which Should You Do - Follow or Connect?

I find that most folks out here don’t even know the difference between follow and connect so here is a link that should explain: https://lnkd.in/e8Xbipd So which is better? Well, that depends.

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru What a great way to end my week! I think this one easily qualifies for my Good News Friday post.

John you really nailed the introduction on this one. Vicki and I had a ball getting to know one another and I thought she was awesome from the "get go" because one of the first things out of her mouth was a movie quote!! This is how LinkedIn should really be used folks. To find two people and introduce them because you KNOW they will become colleagues and fast friends!

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Why Should You Create a LinkedIn (Company) Page

If you are a solopreneur, entrepreneur or a jobseeker and you have a “Gray Ghost” company logo showing on your LinkedIn profile, you should consider creating a LinkedIn page. LinkedIn help says: “A LinkedIn Page acts as the voice of your organization on LinkedIn. It helps members learn more about your business or school, brand, products and services, and job opportunities.” The key word is BRAND.

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru My Good News Friday post this week is about a wonderful person in my network, Malka Bendor.

She works as a Workshop Facilitator for an organization called Jewish Family Services whose tagline is "We're not for everybody. Oh wait, yes we are." Believe me, JFS is for everybody and SO is Malka! Over the past couple of years I have grown to know Malka as a colleague and a friend. She would never say this about herself, but she makes a real difference in the lives of her clients.

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: What Does Your Background Photo (Banner) Say About You?

Your Banner is the first thing that people see when they come to your profile and it’s a great place to show your brand and make a good first impression. If you don’t HAVE a banner it says NOTHING about you. I did a quick informal poll by looking at the first 20 people “suggested” for me on the “My Network” tab. Here are the results:

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru My Good News Friday post this week is all about Catching up with Connections!

It was a great week for networking and started on a high note with two dear friends (see pic) Connie Chwan and Jesse Roberts when we met for "C"ocktails and "C"onversation. Love you my "brother from another mother" and "sister from another mister"!

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: What’s in a Name? A Rose by any Other Name Would...

I have been taught that the name you use on LinkedIn is one of the five most important pieces of information you can have on your LinkedIn Profile. And, the way LinkedIn defines what should be in your name is… well YOUR NAME. Take a look at the link at the bottom of this post and you will see that the User Agreement says you should use your REAL name.

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru My Good News Friday post this week is about networking and referrals.

And, if I can paraphrase an old song (Pennies From Heaven) - Every time it rains, it rains "podcasts" from heaven! First, let me introduce you to two wonderful people. Cyndi Freeman (left) and Sherry Mercurio (right).

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: How Long You Have Been Connected to Someone?

Have you ever wondered how long you have been connected with a person on LinkedIn? I have been connected with several people in my network for over 14 years! Know how I found out how long? There are a couple of ways on the desktop you can find out. Check out the link at the bottom for details, but here is a brief explanation of how you do it:

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru This week's Good News Friday post is about the joy and adventure of doing something for the first time.

Back in June I had the honor of being a guest for the first time on a podcast called the SLAPcast with Shannon Lee. It is about #ServantLeadership and #LinkedIn. Please take a listen to this short program at this link: https://lnkd.in/eNKmJce As I re-listened to the program I realized that there have been so many people in my life that I have admired as leaders and mentors. Here is a thank you to some of them:

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: How Active is Your Network? Here’s how to find out.

Did you know that LinkedIn will actually show you a snapshot of how many posts the folks in your network have done over the last week? It’s showing you the people that YOU follow. Try it out by clicking on the link at the bottom of this post. It will show you activity for the people you follow from highest number of posts to lowest number of posts.

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru My Good News Friday post this week is about time.

Specifically, my good news is about taking time off! I am heading out on vacation next week so I wanted to let everyone know that I will not be on LinkedIn very often over the next 7 - 10 days. I probably won't be on LinkedIn every day. I tell folks in my classes that I don't want them to spend ALL day on LinkedIn, but I think they should spend some time EVERY day!

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: It’s All About RESPECT

I recently witnessed some Troll-like behavior on LinkedIn and it got me thinking about the best way to eliminate that kind of negative attitude. I decided that (for me at least) it is all about RESPECT on LinkedIn (and anywhere else for that matter).

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru My Good News Friday post this week is about how good things come in threes.

Of course, one of my favorite "threes" is in the pic, but I would like to share (you guessed it) three more sets of three related to LinkedIn.

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Ahead Warp Factor Six! Engage on LinkedIn!!

Being active on LinkedIn is good, but being engaged is even better. To prove my point, please take a look at the link to the excellent article by a colleague of mine Bob McIntosh, CPRW and you will quickly see the difference between the two.

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Maximize LinkedIn’s Branding Channels

This week I get to do a free seminar about branding on LinkedIn. It is one of my favorites because it illustrates how far LinkedIn has improved since just being a tool for “your online resume and finding a job”...

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Be a LinkedIn ROCKSTAR

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Be a LinkedIn ROCKSTAR I don’t mean you have to join a band, but if you want to really get involved, build a network and make a difference on LinkedIn, then be a R-O-C-K-S-T-A-R like this folks: “R”eal desire to help “O”utstanding knowledge “C”aring attitude “K”ind and giving “S”uper connections “T”rust your network “A”ctively engage “R”elationship builder Thank you again to Brenda Meller (Zawacki) ☕️ for the inspiration for this post by creating the ROCKSTAR list. I am very grateful to know many of the folks mentioned and look forward to getting to know all the others on Brenda’s list: https://lnkd.in/ePj3g5u If you are interested in more tips like this, please go to my profile and click the Follow button. I post a new tip each Monday. Namaste 🙏 🖖 #socialmedia #linkedin #networking #branding #training #tips #careerdevelopment #autoban

#TheLinkedInGuru Shannon Lee #Kudos You are truly an inspiration to all of us #InspirationalLeader

Ever since meeting Shannon I have been extremely impressed with her devotion to helping others from a Leadership Development perspective. She is an excellent teacher and her reputation in the community as Coach, Speaker and Mentor is second to none. I recently learned that the four words that mean the most currently to Shannon are Service, Love, Action and Passion. Those words shine trough in everything that Shannon does and every interaction she has with her network. I highly recommend that you get to know Shannon and learn from her. You will be very glad that you did! Namaste 🙏 🖖 #socialmedia #linkedin #networking #branding #training #tips #careerdevelopment #autoban

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Comment on Your Network’s Posts Do you engage with your network and your homepage feed by making comments? NO, I mean do you REALLY comment on your network’s stuff? BTW, “Nice post!”, “Way to go!” and “I totally agree!” do NOT...

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Comment on Your Network’s Posts Do you engage with your network and your homepage feed by making comments? NO, I mean do you REALLY comment on your network’s stuff? BTW, “Nice post!”, “Way to go!” and “I totally agree!” do NOT by themselves constitute a comment. They’re okay, but wouldn’t it be a little better if you said WHAT was nice about the post, WHY you are congratulating someone and WHERE you are coming from when you totally agree? I know we are all busy folks and your fingers get really tired after you have typed 10 characters on your keyboard or phone (being “facetious” - only 9 characters - here, boys and girls…) 😉. The number one thing that you can do to build your brand or build relationships on LinkedIn is join the conversation and engage! Please do your network and yourself the favor of actually giving them feedback. You’ll be surprised… you can teach someone something and you might even learn something yourself! I welcome your comments on this post and please go to my profile and click the “Follow” button to see more of my weekly tips. Namaste 🙏 🖖 #socialmedia #linkedin

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru My Good News Friday post this week is about friendship.

It is really good news that LinkedIn is a professional networking tool, but more importantly it is a tool that really fosters building relationships (and yes even friendships). So this week I would like to highlight one of those friendships and thank my friend Craig McAlpine from the "Antipodes" half a world away.

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru

#TheLinkedInGuru My Good News Friday post this week comes from a "neighbor" - Detroit. Brenda Meller (Zawacki) ☕️ has done me the honor of highlighting me in her #FridayShout this week. My heartfelt ❤️ thanks for taking the time to say so many nice things, Brenda! I am very grateful to know such high quality folks (Go Givers) like you and John Espirian out here on LinkedIn . Namaste 🙏 🖖 #socialmedia #linkedin #networking #branding #training #tips #careerdevelopment

Jeff Young on LinkedIn: #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Create Valuable Content and Then Point People to Where it can be Found to Help Build Your Brand

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Create Valuable Content and Then Point People to Where it can be Found to Help Build Your Brand Those who have attended my Branding on LinkedIn seminar know that I believe it is all about value-added content out here on LinkedIn. But, how do you get your content seen? No, this isn’t about the “algorithm”...it’s about using tools like FYI.to to generate Smartlists of your content, give them context and then use those links to point people to them! Check out these lists and you will see what I mean: https://lnkd.in/efgGqqY https://lnkd.in/eVdaiRi https://lnkd.in/eJ9N8u8 https://lnkd.in/eSGFGsG And, if you like what you see, please go to my LinkedIn Profile and click the “Follow” button to see more. FYI.to has helped me focus my network and the public on my content. It can do the same for you. Thanks to @Rodrigo Martinez for all your help in using this great tool! Please check out https://fyi.to/ for more information. Namaste 🙏🖖 #socialmedia #linkedin #networking #branding #training #tips #careerdevelopment #autoban

#TheLinkedInGuru My Good News Friday post this week is about following someone on LinkedIn. I have found that following a person on LinkedIn is one of the BEST ways of getting to know what they contribute out here. Most folks don't know the difference between follow and connect. Connecting with a person is a great way to build a relationship, but sometimes follow is an even better way to get to know someone through their content on LinkedIn BEFORE you connect! And, I consider it a great compliment when someone else follows me, so let me say THANK YOU very much to all the folks that have followed what I do out here! A special shout out to Brenda Meller (Zawacki) ☕️ who publishes a weekly post about #LinkedInSuperStars and those who follow them. And finally, if you like what you see of mine out here PLEASE follow me! I live to serve and want to help you with tips on LinkedIn. Please join the conversation by liking and commenting on my posts! Namaste 🙏 🖖 #socialmedia #linkedin #networking #branding #training #tips #careerdevelopment

#TheLinkedInGuru My Good News Friday this week is about (what else) free LinkedIn Training! Folks often ask me if I do webinars. To which I normally reply - Not really, I prefer to do what us Gurus (Teachers) call "Butts in seats" training (see pic). Yeah, I know... this is LinkedIn and not FB so I shouldn't use a "cat video", but when I found this one I just couldn't resist!!! So, my good news this week is that as of the end of May I will have done 25 free (butts in seats) LinkedIn seminars. I'm right on schedule to get my 60 free classes done again this year! I am always looking for a new venue to teach. So, if you know of someone in the central, OH USA area that could use a free LinkedIn seminar please send them my way. And, while you are at it, please have them check out my LinkedIn profile and click the follow button. THANK YOU and, of course, Namaste 🙏 🖖 #socialmedia #linkedin #networking #branding #training #tips #careerdevelopment

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Check Out the New Notifications By Channel It has always been a best practice on LinkedIn to check your “Settings and Privacy” because LinkedIn LOVES to change things! This week the most recent change is under the “Communications” tab. There is a new section at the top (see pic) called Notifications by channel. Setting notifications on LinkedIn, via Email and Push notifications on your device. Check out these settings and make any updates you wish to make sure you are getting notified of what you would like to see. And, perhaps even MORE importantly you are not being notified for those things you are NOT interested in. Please go to my profile and click the “Follow” button if you want MORE tips. I heard once that "LinkedIn is not written in stone. LinkedIn is written in water". That's really quite profound because it nicely expresses the flexible nature of LinkedIn and how people can use it. And, with my slightly warped sense of humor and appreciation of the "fluid" nature of changes on LinkedIn, I immediately amended the statement to be: "LinkedIn is not written in stone. LinkedIn is written in water...DURING A THUND

#TheLinkedinGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Sometimes You Spell LinkedIn With a Capital “G” - Glitch! Let’s face it folks, this is a software platform and “glitches” come with the territory. Just ask any old IT geek (like myself) if Grace Hopper was right… With software there are always BUGS! So if you are going to use this tool, you will have to get used to it acting a little “WONKY” (that’s a technical term I learned from my friends “down under”) every once in a while! But there is a silver lining to this story… These “glitches” seem to happen before LinkedIn rolls out an enhancement. So if you look at this right, the bigger the “glitch”, the better the enhancement (or at least that’s what I am telling myself)! 😀 😁 😂 🤣 What’s the latest “Gremlin” that you’ve seen on LinkedIn? Please leave a comment about it! Thanks to @Brenda Meller (Zawacki) for the inspiration for this week’s tip and describing it as “Reminds me a bit of how pets run through the house right before there is an earthquake”. I’ll skip the Earthquake, but I will take the Enhancement, thanks! Namaste 🙏 🖖, my friend! #socialmedia #linked

#TheLinkedInGuru My Good News Friday post this week is about two things I have learned about LinkedIn over the 15 years I have been a member. 1. LinkedIn LOVES to change things. 2. LinkedIn LOVES to hide things. Some folks might say those AREN'T good news, but I think they are! First of all, LinkedIn wouldn't be much of a Social Media platform if it always stayed the same. They are always trying to improve the look and function of how we can take advantage of this tool through changes. Sounds like a good thing to me. Second, I sometimes joke about all the "hidden" things that don't seem to be "in your face" on LinkedIn. Actually, this is good too. All it means is that there is SO MUCH that you can do that you actually have to LEARN what does what! These things are "hidden in plain sight" if you just take the time click around and find them. So be glad that things change and take the time to see ALL of LinkedIn's capabilities. Join the "club". The club of people on LinkedIn that KNOW HOW THINGS WORK! Or as my good friend Jo Saunders says, "Get good or get off"! LinkedIn does work if you just make a bit of effort. Please go to my profile and click "Follow". Namaste

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Collections, Collections and More Collections Have you ever heard the phrase “Everyone collects something, even if it is only dust”? Some people may like “collecting dust”, but those who know me know that I DON’T! I love to collect information about LinkedIn (what else would #TheLinkedInGuru collect?) and then pass it along to my network so they can tame this beast called LinkedIn (cue the whip crack sound effect)! Please FOLLOW me if you like what you see here. There is always more on the way! So with that in mind here are a few collections you might want to take a look at: https://lnkd.in/eVdaiRi https://lnkd.in/efgGqqY https://lnkd.in/eSGFGsG https://lnkd.in/epPQ-qe https://lnkd.in/evhwpbx https://lnkd.in/eJ9N8u8 ENJOY! #TheLinkedInGuru My Good News Friday post this week is a THANK YOU and "tip of the hat" to my friend from North of the border, Jay Andrews. Thanks for reaching out and suggesting we catch up on another video chat! We discovered, thanks to a recent video of his, that we both have a penchant for hats! I doubt I have as many hats as Jay, but we both wear many hats in what we do. #TheLinkedInGuru My Good News Friday post this week is all about the seven "C"s. "C"offee, "C"onversations and video "C"alls with "C"onnections, "C"ollaborators and "C"ameraderie in different "C"ountries around the world! I started my week with a long-time friend from Canada Shelly Elsliger via video (see PDF for all video calls) and then had dinner later with an even longer time local friend Richard Toronto. Two more video calls to meet with new connections Grace Judson and Denise Nitterhouse on the next day. FTF meetings with April Schwepe Rhoden and Michael P. Mushrush, PMP were the highlight of my Thursday. And, to finish off the week with a flourish, a video call with LinkedIn Expert Steve Phillip across the pond in the UK and dinner with a wonderful local friend @Vanessa Bey What a great week! This is what networking and LinkedIn are ALL about. Thank you all for teaching me something new and I hope I taught you a thing or two as well! #TheLinkedInGuru My Good news Friday post this week is to say that it's NOT ABOUT YOU, it's about what you do for others! Over the past few months, I have been honored to be recognized by some of the most giving people on LinkedIn. They are ALWAYS recognizing others. It's become a part of their brand. So now it's my turn to recognize and thank them for all they do for others and in particular what they cared enough to do for me. Jo Saunders, Thank you for including me in your LinkedIn Expert List. You are a valued colleague and friend! https://lnkd.in/eb8CgzQ @Jay Andrews, Thank you for including me in your #FantasticFour series. #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Use Google Search to Avoid the Commercial Search Limit and Being in Search Jail Are you running into the “Commercial Use Limit” on Linkedin because you have a free account? If you do not understand the Search Limit check out the link at the bottom. Here is a way to do a search (on a hashtag, for example) that will help you save the number of searches on LinkedIn. Go to Google and do a search for the following: “site: linkedin.com #TheLinkedInGuru” (without the quotes). This will allow you to get many results and not count against your “use limit” on LinkedIn at all! You can substitute anything you want for #TheLinkedInGuru and it should work just as well. This works on ANY search, not just hashtags. Try it and please let me know what you think in the comments. And, if you like what you see here PLEASE go to my profile and click the “Follow” button. It will put my “stuff” on your homepage feed. Namaste 🙏🖖 https://lnkd.in/eSyr48v #socialmedia #linkedin #networking #branding #training #tips #careerdevelopment

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Your Brand is Your Story, Your Story is Your Brand I have heard the definition of “brand” said like this: “Your brand is what people say about you when you are not in the room”. This makes a great deal of sense to me because, after all, your brand is your reputation. It is what you stand for. It is your STORY. But, at the same, the reverse is also true. Your story is what sets you apart from all others. It is how you BECAME your brand. It is how you found your WHY. It is the journey that brought you to where you can add the most value. It is your BRAND. I don’t have enough room here to tell my whole story. Please take a moment and read the attached document if you would like to get to know me better. And then, please do your best to tell YOUR STORY in your LinkedIn profile, show folks your BRAND and tell me about it in the comments! Finally, a huge shout out and thank you to @Dean Pulliam, my long-time friend who got my LinkedIn STORY/BRAND started with a single sentence (see attached). Namaste 🙏🖖, my friend. I can’t thank you enough! #socialmedia #linkedin #networking #branding #training #tips #careerd

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Approach LinkedIn (or Anything Else) With a Positive Attitude. I dedicate this post to all my peeps that inspire me with your positive energy! Thank you all! Don’t get me wrong, folks. I don't mind an occasional rant (I have even been known to do one every once in a while myself), but when I do I try to sprinkle in a little humor and poke a little fun as well. As the old song says, you have to “Accentuate the Positive, Eliminate the Negative” (and no, I’m NOT old enough to have heard Bing Crosby sing it live)… 😀 😁 😂 🤣 After all, if ALL you do on LinkedIn is complain, what does that “brand” you as… a Complainer… Don’t you want your brand to invoke a positive reaction? Wouldn’t you rather connect and engage with someone who ADDS value rather than focuses on the negative? As my dear departed mother used to say “You were given one mouth and two ears. Please use them in that ratio”. Listen and respect what others have to say. When you contribute, keep it positive and constructive. As a great connection of mine puts it… “Add value, not NOISE” on LinkedIn. It will serve you well. Namaste

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Stop Using LinkedIn! First of all, let me say that this post is filled with sarcasm, but with all sarcasm there is (hopefully) some truth to be found. So, with that in mind: Stop using LinkedIn if you are a “taker” instead of a “giver” because it is all about YOU. Stop using LinkedIn if you think it is a “silver bullet” and all you have to do is create a profile and people will buy from you or hire you. Stop using LinkedIn if you want to build a database instead of build relationships. Stop using LinkedIn if you think your resume is the ONLY tool you will ever need to get you that next great job. Stop using LinkedIn if you are afraid you can’t learn anything because LinkedIn loves to change stuff and loves to hide stuff. What’s my REAL advice… NEVER STOP USING LinkedIn! LinkedIn is the absolute best place to learn, collaborate and grow a wonderful network if you approach it the right way. Thanks to ALL my #LinkedInFam for making LinkedIn the best professional networking place on the planet. ❤️ you folks! Namaste 🙏 🖖 #socialmedia #linkedin #networking #branding #training #tips #careerdevelopment

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Why You Might Not Know if Someone Reshares One of Your Posts It is a wonderful compliment when someone pays one of your posts forward, but did you know that LinkedIn doesn’t tell you in notifications when this happens? You have to go to the analytics for the post by clicking on the graph icon and check in the upper left corner (just to the right of number of views) to see if your post has been “reshared”. That’s why I try to mention the person who wrote the original when I share their post. That way I get a chance to give them credit and thank them for the great information. And, they get notified! If you would like to know more check out the link to an article I wrote a while back about the differences between likes, comments and shares. #TheLinkedInGuru My Good News Friday post is about the great quotes I heard this week. So without further ado, enjoy these: ➡️ Angus Grady ⬅️ "Your connections don't have to add up, they just have to COUNT". Shelly Elsliger "The key to LinkedIn is to practice the Art of Reciprocity". Darrel Griffin "Build a network, not a database" and a BONUS "Add Value, not noise" on LinkedIn. Sarah Johnston, Job Search Expert "I love people who show up every day to make a difference on LinkedIn AND in real life". And my favorite Mark Twain quote "There are two important days in your life. The first is the day you are born. The second is the day you figure out WHY". Being the LinkedIn Guru is my WHY. #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: The Person Who Just Looked at Your Profile May Not Want to Connect With You and That’s Okay... Don't worry about WHY... Isn’t it enough most of the time that they DID check you out? Just because I look at your profile does not necessarily mean I want to connect with you. Why DO I look? Reasons why: Because you looked at me I return the favor. If I think I might be able to help you or we share a common background I’ll try to connect, but otherwise I am JUST looking. Because you liked my stuff. If you were nice enough to click like I will say thank you by looking at your profile. Because you and I share several connections. I trust my network and if they thought you were worth connecting with, then I will look you up and consider it as well. Because you followed me. This is one of the nicest compliments IMHO and I will show my appreciation by looking at your profile. The bottom line here is that none of the things I listed are necessarily reasons for connecting, but if anything on your profile looks like an avenue to build a deeper more meaningful relationship with you I WILL click the connect button. I hope you too Namaste

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Networking is Like Air, You Need it to Survive! And no one ever stops breathing while they are alive do they?!?! LinkedIn is one of the best networking tools I have ever found. So you should be using LinkedIn to find connections, get to know your connections, build deeper relationships with your connections and help your connections whenever possible. That’s what networking means to me. There is another phrase that describes networking to me. Your network is like a garden...it needs a little care and feeding to flourish. Taking care of your network is one of the best things that you can do to help you learn and grow. I wrote an article called “What is This Networking Thing?” over four years ago, but I think it still applies today to how LinkedIn is used to network. Please check it out at the link below if you have a chance and let me know in a comment here how LinkedIn works for you as a networking tool. #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: To Mention or Not to Mention, That is the Question Do you @Mention folks on your posts? I do all the time because LinkedIn doesn’t always notify the person you want involved in the conversation. For example, when you share someone’s post the original author doesn’t get notified. That’s why I try to mention the person who wrote the original when I share their post. That way I can give them credit, thank them for the great information and they get notified! It also comes in handy when you want to Involve others in the conversation because they can contribute. However, there is a practice out here that is somewhat frowned upon… “Mention-stuffing”. It’s when someone mentions a bunch of people just to arbitrarily widen the reach of their post and “fool” the algorithm into making it more popular. I don’t do that and most of my network doesn’t either. I believe that the merit and value of your content should stand on its own. If your post is of value it will get likes, comments and shares ON ITS OWN without any arbitrary help. How do you feel about using @Mention? Please let me know what you think the proper

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Join a Group Where You Can Learn and Contribute Please consider joining my Group on LinkedIn at the link below if you are interested in learning great tips on how to use LinkedIn from a host of great folks all over the world. #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Say THANK YOU Whenever You Get a Chance One of the greatest things about networking for me is that I get to say THANK YOU so often. If you don't believe me, check out my Activity Feed on LinkedIn and count the number of times I say "thanks". It is a great feeling and it is also one of the easiest ways of engaging with others and joining the conversation on LinkedIn. I believe your personal and professional brand begins with “Thank You”. So here are some folks I wish to thank for their kindness over the last week: @Jared J Wiese, thank you for the assist last week to help show folks where they can withdraw a request to join a Group. @Chamie Townsend and @Brian Wollenberg, thank you for catching up and the opportunity to donate to your cause. @Jay Andrews, thank you for connecting and bringing my Canadian network to an even dozen wonderful peeps. @Chris Morton, thanks for a wonderful conversation full of GIFs and GIFTS. @Alnoor Damji and @Shelly Elsliger, thank you for being #AwesomeSauce and keeping in touch even though at times we are half a world away. #TheLinkedInGuru My Good News Friday post this week is about one of my favorite "C"s - Collaboration. One of the greatest things about LinkedIn is that it provides the opportunity to network and collaborate with people all over the world. #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Use Direct Links (Bookmarks, Shortcuts) to Get to LinkedIn Content Getting things done on LinkedIn in one click instead of several can end up saving you loads of time. Sometimes folks forget that LinkedIn on the desktop is based on a web browser. And because of that, you can define some bookmarks (aka favorites or shortcuts) to go directly to some of your (or anyone else’s) content. I have listed a few of these below that I use ALL the time. In some cases you have to substitute a different “UserName” to get your or other’s content. All of the links below have been shortened, but once you click on the link you will see what I mean. For example, my UserName is “jeffyoungralemoi”. Try out these links and save the ones you like! #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Uncle “Al” Can be Our Pal Have you met my Uncle “Al” on LinkedIn yet? His full name is “Al Gorithm” and I bet you have heard of him and he has affected your Linkedin journey already. I’ve been hearing a bunch of folks talking about “Al” these past few days. Uncle "Al" can be that CRAZY uncle we all know about sometimes, but I still think Uncle Al can be our "Pal" too! We'll see who gets this reference… You see Uncle “Al” is at work all the time in the background watching what we like, comment on and share. He tries to make sure that we get MORE of the kinds of things we like, comment on and share. It’s as simple as that! Here’s a link that might explain more: https://lnkd.in/exhYV9z So if you want more of a particular type of content in your feed then be sure to tell “Al” by reacting to it and joining the conversation. As I sit here and bask in the warmth of all the "C"aring, "C"ompliments and "C"amaraderie I received on Valentine's Day I reflect on what a great network I have out here. #TheLinkedInGuru I hear folks out here on LinkedIn say that they are receiving too much SPAM in their content, on invitations and on their Groups all the time. DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT? First of all, stop commenting on it. The algorithm gives you MORE of what you comment on so don't FEED the algorithm. Secondly, disconnect or block people who do it. They are obviously DOING IT WRONG so don't associate with them. And finally, REPORT IT. There are always options that allow you to report SPAM no matter where you see it. #TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Tis the Season to G.I.V.E. to Your Network What that acronym really means is to be GENEROUS, be INTERESTING, be VALUABLE and be EXCEPTIONAL. By doing these things your network will come to know you, like you and trust you. I saw an article not long ago that I thought expressed it well. Unfortunately, I can't remember where to give proper credit, but the gist of the article stated this: "LinkedIn is not written in stone. LinkedIn is written in water...DURING A THUNDERSTORM"! Check out this link for much more information: https://lnkd.in/dJpXpZv Namaste 🙏 🖖

It’s really easy. If you come across a person, company or topic that you would like to see their content on your feed, then all you have to do is click “Follow” on their profile page. If you don't see a “Follow” button: Click the “More...” icon on the top portion of the person's profile. Select “Follow” from the drop down. Check out the link below for more information and even a helpful video on how following works. And, if this or my other tips are helpful PLEASE follow me! I am always honored when someone takes the time to check out my tips. THANK YOU to all my existing followers! #TheLinkedInGuru My Good News Friday post is a little late today primarily because there was SO MUCH good news that it was hard to decide what to highlight. First of all, I got to deliver my 56th and 57th free seminars of the year for such great folks as Libby Gierach|Hilliard Chamber, Barney Greenbaum, Becky Tylka and Lisa Medrano. Thanks again folks for the opportunity to teach! Second, I got to continue to network with friends (too many to mention all of them) all over the world like Angus Grady (sorry Angus I know you don't like to be "tagged", but I just had to highlight what a good friend you are ), Jared J.WIESE, Laura Staley, Shelly Elsliger, Taranum Khan, Ph.D, CCS, TESL, Mark Struczewski, Jeff Wasserstrom and Wayne Yoshida who honored me with his "You Rock" award for 2018: https://lnkd.in/eVdGmt6 But, the best good news is that I got to "meet" via video chat a friend of a friend Alnoor Damji. Alnoor is a gentleman and a scholar (not necessarily in that order) who spreads LIGHT to his network every second of every day. LinkedIn is a wonderful tool to engage with old friends AND new friends. Namaste 🙏 🖖 to you all!

#TheLinkedInGuru Alnoor Damji #Kudos #ThankYou My Good News Friday post today is an illustration of friendship. Alnoor Damji and I met and connected here on LinkedIn about three months ago. Since then we have become good friends and video chatted many times. BTW, thanks for the introduction Shelly Elsliger! My friend Alnoor just sent me a message from Shanghai, China after his safe arrival from Calgary, Canada. We (Shelly, Alnoor and I) are going to try to collaborate on something that Alnoor will be teaching in China. Now, if that's not GLOBAL friendship, I don't know what is... LinkedIn made this possible. Thank you for thinking of me and including me in your plans to help others, Alnoor. You truly live up to your #IamAlnoor (I am the light) name. Namaste 🙏 🖖 #socialmedia #linkedin #networking #branding #training #tips #careerdevelopment

#TheLinkedInGuru This is my Good News Friday post which will also serve as my last post of the year because (good news) I plan on taking the rest of the year off! That doesn't mean I won't be on LinkedIn and keeping in touch. It just means that I'm not posting until next year. I want to say THANK YOU to all the great folks in my network who have made 2018 a FANTASTIC year. There are way too many to mention so I won't even try (and, besides I don't believe in "tag-stuffing" any more than you do). Thank you all for the support, kindness, caring, teachings, tips, and engagement (there probably should be a few more "C"s in that list, but you're probably tired of all that "C"**p by now 😀 😁 😂 🤣), Seriously, I really hope not! No matter what part of the world you hail from I want to wish you the absolute best of the holiday season in whatever way you celebrate this time of year. I hope your life is brighter than the lights on the tree in my front yard (see picture). Be well, be nice to one another and, of course, Namaste 🙏 🖖

#TheLinkedInGuru Good news Friday time again! It was a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and I am thankful for the time spent with friends and family. But, that's just one of 365 days. The good news is that I get to spend ALL my days of the year being THANKFUL and a "Guru" (teacher) and by the end of November I will have done 55 free hashtag#LinkedIn seminars. I focus on my local community and get to network with my hashtag#LinkedInFam (a great global community). Here is a link that will show you where and what types of seminars I have available: https://lnkd.in/eVdaiRi Thanks very much to Rodrigo MARTINEZ for introducing me to https://fyi.to and making the hashtag#smartlist in my free seminar list possible. You ROCK, my friend! Namaste 🙏 🖖

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: It’s Okay to be “Human” on LinkedIn LinkedIn is a wonderful Social Media platform for professionals. And one of the things that I have found over the years is that they don’t call it “Social” Media for nothing! It’s okay to be social and “human” on LinkedIn and as a part of being human it’s okay to be yourself! Just because you are a professional doesn’t mean you can’t be a person as well. Showing who you are and expressing yourself, your sense of humor and your values is okay! A goodhearted friend (she knows who she is) recently bought me a new T-Shirt to help me show who I am. So with that in mind I wanted to share the picture below. I often introduce myself as “Hi, I’m a Teacher, what’s your superpower?” It’s what I do and a part of who I am. How do you express who you are on LinkedIn? Let me know what makes you “human” as you use LinkedIn to build your network and your brand. SHARE!! It’s another thing that makes us human! Namaste 🙏 🖖

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: It’s Not About the Numbers, But it is About Providing Value Thank you to my network for checking out my “stuff”. I am always gratified when someone likes, comments or shares one of my posts. And even more gratifying is that some of my posts that are three weeks old still get more hits. The numbers on LinkedIn will show you some interesting analytics, but I find that the most interesting thing is that they show you if what you post provides value. And, that is what it is all about on LinkedIn - Be a giver...provide value. Take a look at your posts over the last few weeks and you will see what I mean. I know my numbers below are NOT as good as many others, but they are good enough for me: Mon 12/3 - 1247 views, 18 likes, 15 comments Fri 11/30 - 658 views, 12 likes, 9 comments Mon 11/26 - 33,447 views, 96 likes, 43 comments It’s all about engaging and providing value and I get far more back than I ever give. I hope you do too! Namaste 🙏 🖖 #socialmedia #linkedin #analytics #networking #branding #training #tips #careerdevelopment

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Calling All Veterans! “All gave some, some gave all” I want to thank all the veterans out here on LinkedIn for your service. For some time now, LinkedIn has been offering eligible service members, veterans and military spouses one year of free access to LinkedIn Premium and LinkedIn Learning. #TheLinkedInGuru It is already past 8 AM in the morning for some of my hashtag#LinkedInFam on the other side of the globe so I thought I would kick off my Good News Friday post a little early. The good news is I would like to introduce you to a little friend of mine "Otter Guru" (see pic). Otter would like to share a link to a Group where you can get LinkedIn tips and engage with a bunch of other folks about questions you have on LinkedIn. Two things that Otter has discovered over the years is that LinkedIn LOVES to change stuff and LinkedIn LOVES to hide stuff. Everybody needs a little help swimming "upstream" on LinkedIn from time to time and finding those hidden crayfish, crabs and juicy snails! 😁 The Group is called "LI Tips for All Levels of Experience" and it has been around since August of 2014. Please click on the link below and join the conversation. We are all here to help you figure out how to make the best use of this "beast" called LinkedIn. All are welcome!! https://lnkd.in/edh6d7f Namaste 🙏 🖖

#TheLinkedInGuru Hello #LinkedInFam. It's Good News Friday time again! The good news this week is that I wanted to show you that you can check on open and resolved issues currently related to LinkedIn. Credit for posting information on this earlier this week and bringing it to my attention goes to my friend Jared 🅹 WIESE SPN an excellent LinkedIn Profile Coach. Please check out the short video and you will see how easy it is follow LinkedIn's progress in resolving issues that have been surfaced on the desktop and mobile platforms. I hope you find this useful! Namaste 🙏 🖖

LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Don’t Spend All Day on LinkedIn, But Spend SOME Time EVERY Day on LinkedIn Sometimes when I do a 2 hour seminar I have had folks come up to me afterwards and say “Jeff, you really need a life! All you ever do is spend time on LinkedIn, right?!?!” That’s not really true, although I AM on LinkedIn SEVERAL times a day, it is not ALL day. If you would like to know what a “day in the life” of hashtag#TheLinkedInGuru looks like, then please take a look at the link to the article below: https://lnkd.in/eWW3AxB This will give you an idea of how engage with your network on LinkedIn, but don’t forget that it is just as important to engage with your network OUTSIDE of LinkedIn (even if that means a virtual video chat)! Happy networking and Namaste 🙏 🖖

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Tis the Season for Thanks Actually, IMHO, every day out here is a day for saying thanks, but it is especially appropriate for this time of year. One of the greatest things about networking for me is that I get to say THANK YOU so often. If you don't believe me, check out my Activity Feed on LinkedIn and count the number of times I say "thanks". It is a great feeling and it is also one of the easiest ways of joining the conversation on LinkedIn. After all, all you have to do is comment on someone's post to add your own experience and say "thanks for sharing" or "thanks for giving me a great idea" or even "thanks for adding value". As a networker who believes that you should seek first to help someone else, I always appreciate getting a thank you and I always try to make sure I pass along a "thanks" as well. Please check out the link below and take a moment to say thanks to your network as well. https://lnkd.in/ekdEwp4 Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Namaste 🙏 🖖

What's New on LinkedIn and Why Should You Care? This time of year most people do a little looking back. It’s true about LinkedIn, too. I get to do many seminars that are related to what has CHANGED on LinkedIn over the past 6 - 12 months at this time of year. Believe me, LinkedIn LOVES to change stuff! So if you get a chance, please come to one of my seminars in the next month and I will try to help you see what has changed and why it might be important for you. In the meantime, take a look at the PDF I have included here. It should show you many of the recent changes (I know I probably missed some) over the last year. Enjoy and please share with your network. BTW, I think Adobe Reader will let you download this file. Give it a try. Namaste 🙏 🖖

#TheLinkedInGuru LinkedIn Tip of the Week: Reconnect With Friends Whenever Possible This morning I had the privilege of having breakfast with two of my closest friends Connie Chwan and Jesse Roberts (see picture). It is always good to see them and share what has been happening in each of our lives. Networking is about connecting… But, it is also always important to connect with folks on LinkedIn that don’t happen to be located in the same “neck of the woods”. Last Saturday I had the pleasure of catching up with a good friend Taranum Khan, Ph.D, CCS, TESL from Toronto, Canada. Every day out here, I engage with folks from all over the world (Ohio, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Illinois, Massachusetts, North Carolina, California, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, India, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand...well, you get the idea). These are all my friends and I am honored to have them in my network. It’s all about engaging and building long-term relationships. That’s what LinkedIn means to me. Try it! I guarantee you will learn something and you will be better for it. Check out some these folks at the link: https://lnkd.in/eJ9N8u8 Namaste

#TheLinkedInGuru Good News Friday time again folks. This week I want to recognize a person who I have known now for nearly 18 years. Ken Lazar hashtag#Kudos hashtag#InspirationalLeader He starts every one of his meetings with "one good thing" that happened that week...never realizing that the best thing that week was probably getting to network with him. I've had the opportunity to work with him many times. The first word that comes to mind when I tell people about Ken is "professional". The word "professional" means different things to different people. To me it describes Ken's attitude, dedication, passion, knowledge and leadership. Ken has always been a leader. More importantly, Ken is a Servant Leader. That means that Ken understands that great leaders seek to serve others first. Ken has been serving individuals and this community for many years and his service makes a difference in people's lives. When Ken introduces himself he says that he "puts people to work". Those few words speak volumes about his tireless efforts to help people find what they really want to do in life. I am very pleased to have had the opportunity to work with Ken
